چکیده
The present study of screening for gestational diabetes mellitus was carried out in 500 pregnant women attending OPD section of Gynecology Department at Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni. The high risk patients underwent glucose challenge test with 75 gm glucose, between 14-16 weeks of gestation and if negative the test was again done after 28 weeks. Out of 500 pregnant women, 117 individuals with abnormal glucose challenge test were subjected to 2 hr75gm oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Sensitivity of oral glucose tolerance test in detection of gestational diabetes in high risk group was determined. The screening of high risk group was done with the help of OGTT, which required no extra laboratory facilities, long waiting period or trained manpower. It has no side effects but guarantees good compliance of patient. OGTT hence is a reliable method to detect gestational diabetes mellitus in high risk group.

Background: Detecting mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is not only important in prevention of prenatal morbidities but also has significant effect on neonatal and maternal long term outcomes. Today, there are screening tests for GDM but they are time-consuming and expensive, therefore it seems necessary to perform testes that are uses expensive but with higher sensitivity and sp...

OBJECTIVE To compare the accuracy measures of the random glucose test and the 50-g glucose challenge test as screening tests for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS In this prospective cohort study, pregnant women without preexisting diabetes in two perinatal centers in the Netherlands underwent a random glucose test and a 50-g glucose challenge test between 24 an...

BACKGROUND An oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is the current method used for screening and diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). OGTT is a relatively complicated procedure and is expensive. Thus, new strategies that do not require fasting or more than a single blood draw may improve the diagnosis of GDM and increase the rate of GDM testing. We investigated the utility of monitori...
متن کاملPossibility to predict early postpartum glucose abnormality following gestational diabetes mellitus based on the results of routine mid-gestational screening
INTRODUCTION Women with previous gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have increased risk of developing glucose abnormality, but current diagnostic criteria are evidence-based for adverse pregnancy outcome. THE AIMS OF OUR STUDY WERE (i) to ascertain a frequency of early conversion of GDM into permanent glucose abnormality, (ii) to determine predictive potential of current GDM diagnostic crite...

Global prevalence increase of diabetes type 2 and gestational diabetes (GDM) has led to increased awareness and screening of pregnant women for GDM. Ideally screening for GDM should be done by an oral glucose tolerance test (oGTT), which is laborious and time consuming. A randomized glucose test incorporated with anthropomorphic characteristics may be an appropriate cost-effective combined clin...
